The Character Cafe is located in a small town in Southwestern Ontario, called Delaware.
The owners are Kelly Keller and Kendra Savage Lind.
Kendra Savage Lind is the mother of 4 children ranging in ages from 16 years to 9 months. A few years back she found herself able to stay at home to care for her children after years of working full-time. It was then that her love of crafting began. She started off with a desire to find children's clothes in a small town in Northern Canada, which lead to opening a clothing store (2002). That lead to custom children's clothes, and then jewelry with hair accessories. The bug was born! A new found love for all things polymer lured her into the wonderful world of sculpting where she developed a passion for creating fairies and fantasy creatures (2005). After having her sculpting supplies all packed up for a move to a larger house due to the news of child number 4, she found herself floundering without a craft to focus on... it was then that she allowed herself to delve into the world of paper crafting (2007). She knew the craft existed and that a lot of her polymer supplies could be used by paper crafters, but she also knew that she would want it all and so had steered clear. It was in developing a love for paper crafting that the ideas for The Character Cafe began to grow. Kendra still loves to sculpt as a hobby, but she's devoting most of her time to developing The Character Cafe into what she believes will be a great place to "hang out". You never know what or who you'll find hanging out at The Cafe!!!
Kelly Keller
From a young age Kelly has always had artistic ability and a love for all crafts. She attended the very well know vocational art program at H.B. Beal Secondary School in London, Ontario. After graduating, she went on to Fanshawe College in London, ON and graduated with a diploma in Advertising Art. Kelly had various jobs learning as much as she could in the industry, including page layout for a small newspaper, and graphic designer for a printing and sign shop. Her most recent job was as a graphic artist for an awards and recognition company which involved designing and making dies that would be used to produce cast medallions, coins, keychains, etc. After working for 9 years at this company, she decided to simplify her life to spend more time with her two boys, ages 6 and 8, and she left to become a SAHM. Being at home allowed her to explore other avenues of crafting and her love for stamping and paper crafts grew. It was in dicussing these ventures that her and Kendra became friends and The Character Cafe became a reality.
We hope you enjoy what we have to offer and know that we will contiue to strive to bring you many more quality crafting opportunities in the future :) Happy crafting!
